Valentines in White....

Our challenge for this month had several different components... It had to have a Valentine's Day theme, be all white except for the stamped image, and use dry embossing.

Instead of a standard card, I went with a simple way to deliver Valentine's candy. And boy is this simple to put together, you could crank out tons of these at once. I used the Heart Lollipop stamp and trimmed off the bow that was on it so I could add a ribbon bow. I cut a piece of cardstock slightly bigger than my pack of M&M's and a small strip to go around and hold the candy. I embossed both of them with dots. Glued the strip to the back and added the lollipops and small bows.

A Brand New Year!

New Year, New Design Team. Well a few new members have been added to the team, and a few old members have decided to move on. I'll have links to all the Designers at the bottom. For our first challenge of 2012 Mary was cleaning out her stash of goodies and found calendars. I got and 8 1/2" x 11" one, and what I love most about it is that it's vertical instead of horizontal. I had two months to cover February and March.

Gather Goodies: Double Hearts (1086QCL), Red Cardstock, White Cardstock, Pink Cardstock, red ink, and some pretty ribbon.

I chose to make several large mats for a photo and then stamp the double hearts onto one of them. I then stamped the double hearts alone, cut them out, and wove the ribbon through them. The picture size is 4"x6" (the lovely couple are my in laws). Super simple design, and it wouldn't take long to put together twelve months with type of format.

Gather Goodies: Shamrock (196B), Green Cardstock, White Cardstock, Yellow Cardstock, printer, edge punch, and green ink.

Since the first month went so smoothly I decided to use basically the same format of layers of mats. This time instead of a picture I used a favorite quote of mine, perfect for March. Once I stamped the shamrocks around the white border, it stamped two on green cardstock and used those above and below the quote.

Christmas Cards.....

Our fearless leader Mary says she never gets to send her Christmas cards before Christmas, so she has us do a challenge now to get ideas. I went with a super simple card again:

I used Serendipity Stamps: Holly from the Christmas Whimsey set (411M) and Simple Merry Christmas Small (1036B). Some how I had managed to miss the whimsey set before but I just love it... right up my alley. First I randomly stamped the holly on white cardstock, then I colored in the holly with Copic markers. I then mounted it all on a red cardstock base. I put diamond glaze on the berries, and stamped Merry Christmas on a small slip of red cardstock. I added white brads to the ends and adhered it with pop dots.

Simple and quick to get done at the last minute. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

Tea Time

This months challenge was Tea Time. We selected stamps with a tea theme and ran with it. I chose the Japanese Teapot with the side handle (636D). I stamped it multiple times on kraft cardstock, and matted it on black cardstock. I wrapped the card with black twine. Finally I stamped the teapot one more time and colored it red, and finished it off with liquid glass. When I attached it to the card I bent it a little so it cracked and gave it an older look.

Here is a close up of the teapot. I love how it turned out, and I see myself using this stamp a lot more.

Country Gals!

This month's challenge was to use watercolors in a country theme. Not country as in homespun, geese with ribbons no their necks, but country as in out in the country. Which just happens to be where I live. And the one thing that always makes me think of home is John Deere tractors. So I took Serendipity's large tractor cling set (208QCL)

I stamped it in black and used my water color crayons to add the John Deere effect to it! Then I mounted it on a piece of checked fabric that I distressed. Put a piece of ribbon around it, mounted the tractor with pop dots. Then I took my black ink and stamped the sentiment on the top!

Shape up!

First Challenge up for November is shaped cards. I was going to just use the Turkey stamp (800K) But in every way I worked it it just seemed to plain. So I decided to add a background to it. I used the Darice wood grain embossing folder, and tore across the top for a rough cut look. Added green cardstock to the background.

The final touches I tied some multicolored twine around the card and then using pop dots to add the turkey to the front. I used letters on cork to add a name to the place card. I love how this turned out and think the turkey being uncolored really makes it pop!

Thankful for Serendipity

So I'm a day late, but here is my second Serendipity project for October. This time we were challenged to use Thanksgiving stamps and I love, love, love this kitty and puppy pilgrim set (1125 & 1126). I decided that they would make great wine glass charms. So I stamped them on to shrink plastic with staz-on ink, and then colored them in with colored pencils. I then punched my holes (remember the holes shrink too), and hit it with the heat gun. After that I made loops from copper wire and hung them on my glasses!

I think they turned out super cute!

Imagine using Serendipity stamps to make charms for every Holiday or Occasion. Simple, easy, and inexpensive!

Some random bits....

Here are some odds and ends from the last couple days. First off here is a yummy chicken lasagna I made... This is the second try the first time the flavor was a little bland, but I kicked it up with hot sauce this time and it was much better. It will certainly be making more repeat performances here.

Here are two little anteaters I created for a swap at Craftster.org one in traditional colors and one in fun purples. Hope my partner likes them....

Jac has been working on a totem pole for a project in school. Here it is all finished, I think he did a great job!

And I got a new camera... Loving it so far, very easy to use and it takes a great macro shots... here is a picture of the mum on my porch!

A photo challenge...

For Serendipity's first October challenge we were given this photo to use as inspiration. The photo comes from the blog: 3191 Miles Apart. When I first looked at the image there were lots of things that jumped out at me. The bright oranges, the way the oranges and nuts are arranged in a row. But in the end I took my inspiration from a more subtle part of the photo. The tablecloth.

I used one of the new stamps just released Snowman Trio (1251H). I stamped the image with versa mark ink and then used white embossing powder. Then layered up several colors of cardstock. Added snowflakes to the corners, some glitter pen, and finally topped the whole thing with a large white bow. I intend to set this on my entertainment center come winter. It will make a nice winter accent between all the photos I have there.

Don't forget to floss

after all that Halloween candy. My second design team challenge for Serendipity Stamps was two fold for September. Use Halloween stamps and use embroidery floss. Well my favorite stamp for Halloween is the Spider (1226E). Yes I know, normally I hate spiders, but well cute cartoony ones make me smile. So once I had decided to use that stamp, I knew he would need a place to live, so I created the floss spider web. I think it super cute and didn't take long at all.

Here is a closer look at the web and spider. So for directions this month I'm going to tell you how I made the web. I used a large need and embroidery floss. I lightly drew out where i wanted the base to go in the double x style. Then used my needle to poke holes at each end and in the middle. Then I sewed the lines on. Next with a new piece of thread I came up through the center hole. I then wrapped the floss around the first line. Then headed to the next and wrapped again. Pretty easy, and super cute.

Christmas card in September...

Here is my Christmas in September card I used Serendipity Stamp 943GUMC Nativity! It's such a serene stamp, and I just love it!

Here is a close up of the image! I cut out several parts of the stamp and layered them on top of each other for depth. The whole image is colored with copic markers. And I added some stickles for star and halo shine!

Her is sort of a side shot to see the depth. I also coated the image with a pearl spray it makes it look even more peaceful to me!

Exterminate....

Seems like that is what happened to summer. My son went back to school today, and I miss having him around the house already! On another note a new season of Dr. Who started last Saturday! Yeah! And one day I came home to find that my husband had created for me this tiny army of Lego Daleks!

Exterminate... Exterminate... Exterminate....Exterminate....

Aren't they cute... I know I know Daleks aren't supposed to be cute!

Orange here is my favorite!

While I was busy Jac was really busy, and really creative. He started out simple but then branched out, he's super proud of his Picachu...

And Pichachu's pokeball everyone knows that Pichachu never stays in his pokeball....

And a happy smiley face... which got me to thinking about the old Have a day posters I used to have... need to craft something on those lines. And starting tomorrow look for awesome Alaska posts. My trip begins nice and early!

Blast from the past...

Perler beads... you know little plastic beads you put on a little pegged grid, then hit them with the iron, and wala they stick together!

I decided to create some projects for my hubby! And he loves the transformers. I started with the Decepticon symbol, the angles are a bit off but I think overall it came out great! Who is your favorite Decepticon? Mine is Starscream, the original.

Then the Autobot symbol. I'm not super happy with this one, it is quite wonky looking to me. But anyway, who is your favorite Autobot? Mine is Bumblebee also the classic, cute little car, and he talked... no radio squealing like the new one.

Feeling Crafty Tuesday...

I made up some of these cool plastic shapes for a Disney swap and had to make some for myself... it was as easy as melting pony beads in the oven.... which is really easy. Then some holes were drilled and chain to hang the pieces together, and a pretty bow, and new Disney decor! I can see myself making these up in a whole bunch of different colors and patterns!

And as a general rule I haven't done a lot of sewing in the past, but my son has fallen in love with Domo. And I found this piece of fuzzy brown fur at a garage sale and inspiration hit. I turned it into a Domo ipod case, and he's pretty happy with it! I just hope it doesn't fall apart!

A Quiet Get Away.

Serendipity Stamps owner Mary dreams of living in a little house, that is close to shops and especially the post office someday. So this month she challenged us to use one of the Provence stamps or the cottage stamp. I chose the Spring in Provence Stamp (601H).

Supplies: Cardstock, copic markers, flower soft, momento black ink, glue, and lace
Directions: I just stamped the image colored it in, matted it and attached it to the card, topped it off with some lace, then finally added random drops of glue to the greenery and topped with flower soft.

Package it up!

Happy Wednesday morning!

Our first challenge this month was to create a wrapping, or package.

I chose to use this little bag template that I love so much, and have had forever. It is the perfect size for a gift card or even jewelry, and looks so much more fancy to me than a card! I created this one with a graduate in mind, but how great would this be for Father's Day or any occasion. Use any paper, and then pick the Serendipity Stamp that compliments it, or you could use a stamp and customize the whole bag.

I used Serendipity Stamp Believe from the Believe cube (278K). Used a bright summer paper and a tiny bag template (surf the net they are out there). I stamped the believe on the tag, and then added a pretty tissue paper ruffle. Tied on some ribbon handles and tada instant gift bag!

This month we were asked to choose a stamp from the line of doodle stamps that Serendipity carries. I completely fell in love with this cat. And we were also asked to use felt in the design some how!

Supplies:

Serendipity Stamp Cat (923B)

Cardstock in black and gray

White opaque ink

pink felt

hole punch

pink colored pencil

oval dies

oval scalloped dies

rhinestones

masking tape

Directions:

1. Stamp cat on black cardstock and cut out with oval die, mat with larger oval in gray. Color over cat with colored pencil.

2. Cover the back of the felt with masking tape and cut out with scalloped oval. Use hole punch to punch a hole in each scallop. The tape isn't required but I find it gives the felt some stability so it doesn't fray. Attach cat ovals to felt.

3. Stamp cats on black cardstock and mat with gray. Draw a light black line in gray border. Attach rhinestones to corners. Attach oval to bottom right corner!

A Beautiful Day for a Wedding...

The first Serendipity May challenge was to create a Wedding Card using the sketch below.

This is the card I created...

Supplies:

Serendipity Stamps Wedding cake (425E) and Bouquet (899B)

Black, white, and purple cardstock

Embossing Ink

Black embossing powder

Black ribbon
Two purple hearts

Directions:
1. Stamp images in embossing ink, and emboss.
2. Cut out images and mat on black cardstock.
3. Tie ribbon around bottom of cake and add hearts.
4. Adhere images to purple cardstock and mat in black.
5. Adhere to card front.

I love how easy this card was to put together and yet it still has an elegant enough look for a wedding card.

Our second Serendipity Challenge for April was to use one of the stamps from the Have a Care line.. I chose the Reuse it or Lose it in honor of Earth Day!

I made this hanger for our garbage can cupboard. We have been trying to be more earth friendly, and recently our garbage company picks up the garbage as well as recycling. I'm hoping that this little hanger will remind us to not throw out things that are recyclable!

Supplies:
*Reuse it or Lose it Serendipity Stamp (1064D)
*Basic Grey Origins Papers
*Used cardboard coaster (another way to recycle)
*Coordinating ribbon
*Hole punch
*Black ink
*Corner rounder

Directions:
1. Cover coaster with adhesive and then cover with paper and trim around it.
2. Stamp image on paper and mat twice inking edges in black. Ink edges of coaster as well.
3. Attach matted image to front of coaster, and punch holes to put ribbon through.

Copy cat...

For Serendipity Stamps first April Challenge we were given this photo and told to use it as inspiration for creating our project. Below is the photo... I loved the natural feel of the photo and wanted my piece to have the same feel.

Here is the tag I created from the inspiration. Another vintage feel project guess that is where my creativity is at lately.

Supplies:

~Dragonfly North Serendipity Stamp (111B)

~Dragon Fly Dreams Serendipity Stamp (110B)

~Tiny graph patterned paper in white and brown

~Circle punches or circle cutter

~Brown Ink

~Black and brown pen

~Brown ribbon

~Brown embroidery floss

~One Brass brad

~Hole punch

Directions:

1. First cut tag from white grid paper (I free handed it). Ink the edges in brown and punch a hole at the top.

2. Cut five circles out of light grid and five slightly bigger from brown. Stamp dragonfly on light, and mat with brown.

3. Use a second generation stamping technique with the dragonflies on tag base. Stamp Dragonfly dreams towards bottom of tag. Adhere circles randomly on tag.

4.Tie floss around bottom of tag, and put brad over where all the strands cross. Tie ribbon through hole.

5. Use black and brown pen to add doodles all over the tag. For the black dots I used the negative of the circle punch to add the dotted circles to the background.

A favor...

I just love the way these turned out, they are so adorable! It was perfect that pastel M&M's were available this time of year. I also adore how these look all standing in the little galvanized bucket. I usually keep my colored pencils in them, but if I can find some more I'll be using them at the shower.

Serendipity had a new release of stamps for the spring... so I decided to make up some place cards for Easter Dinner using the adorable bunny (1244E).
I used copics to color and added a tiny bit of white flocking for his tale so it's all fluffy! Thanks for looking!

Quotable Quotes...

Serendipity Stamps second March challenge was to use one of the quotes from the line... and wow are there a few to choose from...yes! Made it hard but I finally narrowed it down to this one.

I took this side shot to get a better picture of the small rectangle, so you could see the pearly shimmer better, but it was not to be.

Supplies:
~More things stamp (027D)
~Dark green cardstock (card base is 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" other square is 3 1/4" x 3 1/4")
~Green gingham cardstock
~White cardstock
~Brown Ink
~Antique Linen Distress Stain from Tim Holtz, brand new product, get some quick.
~Perfect Pearl mist
~Brown Thread
~Green Ribbon
~Sewing machine

Directions:
1. Cut gingham smaller than green base. Use stain to age the gingham, then adhere to base. Stitch around gingham in brown.
2. Use stain to color white cardstock and stamp sentiment on top, adhere to green and stitch a border. Then attach the whole thing to the card front.
3. Tie ribbon around front in a pretty bow.

This card went together so quickly but has a real put together feel to it. And again I have tried at making and antique look, this is really becoming a habit for me, but a good one of course.

And so after looking at my email one more time I realized I was supposed to use the following sketch to make my card this month... so I started creating again, this challenge is a two for one.

So I used all the same supplies since they were all out, and came up with the following card... enjoy!

A Perfect Pair...

A friend of mine is having twins... a boy and a girl. I'm throwing her shower for her. After surfing for a bit I chose the Perfect Pair theme... and these are the invites...
I wanted the colors to be a bit more subtle than the standard bright pink and blue. The first change I made was going with a sage green color instead of blue, and I'm glad I did, love how the green turned out.

Teacher pleaser...

Our first March challenge is to create something for a coach or teacher. When cruising through the stamps I found these adorable apples, and I knew that they were perfect for a teacher card.

Supplies:
210H--Apple
733E--We Create Our Tomorrows
Green Cardstock
White cardstock
Brown Cardstock
Border Punch
Water color crayons
paint brush
Blue ink
Black Staz-on ink
whole punch
brown twine
blue and green beads

Directions:
1. Cut green cardstock to 3"x6". Adhere to card base. Cut white cardstock to 2 3/4"x 5 3/4". Stamp apples on white with staz-on.
2. Use the water color crayons to color in the image and background. Adhere to front of card.
3. Punch border from brown and dots from brown and green. Adhere to front of card.
4. Stamp saying to the right of apples. Use a mask over the apples and stamp the saying once on scrap paper before stamping as the cards background.
5. Tie twine to the top of card and add beads.

I love the way the water color crayons add and antiqued look to the card.

Bits and Pieces...

was the second challenge for February! And I had decided that I would use whatever was on my desk! Good thing I'm messy and don't tend to pick up when I'm done creating! As far as stamps I chose to use bits and pieces of stamps to go along with the theme. I'm pretty darn happy with this layout.

Supplies:
Serendipity Stamps
*Bent Feather Stamp (066c)
*Smile (430c1)
*Magic Happens (371D)
*Black cardstock
*paper scraps
*ribbon scraps
*silver brads
*letter stickers
*red colored pencil
*black pen
*piercing tool
*soft mat

Directions:
1. Cut strips of cardstock out line them in black pen, and glue them to the base cardstock. Adhere pictures to the top.
2. Stamp three images on neutral paper, stamping feather twice. Adhere them to the layout! (I lightly colored my feathers red, since our mascot was the cardinal.)
3. Attach ribbon to label and add title!
4. Using piercing tool make holes in the shape of swirls. Put brads into holes.

So challenge yourself to see what you can put together with just bits and pieces.

A card I whipped up for a friend. I have fallen in love with Zentangles, but cannot keep my self from coloring them... that makes them twice as fun in my opinion.

And another layout! Grabbed this line of paper the other day when I was in the scrappy store! Isn't it great, and think it goes fantastic with the photo of Zoe. I'm pretty pleased with how this one turned out!

As simple as Black and White

Welcome to a new year of Serendipity Stamps projects.

For the first challenge in February we were given Black and White... I am used to using a lot of color, but had a ton of fun with this challenge. I started by stamping a bunch of stamps in black to see what I liked best. Turns our lots of Serendipity's flower stamps look great in black and white.

Supplies:
Serendipity stamp Hollyhock (1214L)
Black and White Cardstock
Black Ink
Die Cut letters
Circle cutter
Sponge
Border Punch
Adhesive pearls

Directions:
1. Mat White cardstock on black.
2. Stamp Hollyhock three times on white cardstock. Cut out one full image, and cut the other two into small sections.
3. Cut a black strip and border punch it.
4. Cut a circle out of black cardstock
5. Adhere strip, circle, flowers, and photo to white cardstock.
6. Use removable adhesive to adhere letters around circle, ink around letters with black ink and sponge.
7. Use pen to add border around white cardstock, and adhere pearls to corners.

And here he is... Blue! I was hanging out in the Crochet section of the book store after Christmas and found the book Amineko... (Ami means crochet in Japanese, and Neko means cat). Once I saw these cute guys I had to have the book.

For such a sleepy kitty he tends to find himself in the strangest places around our house...

Too tired to even hold himself up...

Curled up in the total pillow.. another present, please don't waste your money, it's nothing like on the commercials...

Good Thing he isn't afraid of heights....

Soon I'll be adding friends for Blue.... hopefully I'll be able to get the arms even the first time, this time and not have to keep ripping them off!

So maybe I've dropped off the blog world for a while but that does not mean that I haven't been feeling crafty! In the past couple months I've delved into a whole new range of crafting and I'm loving it. And actually I think I makes my scrapping more inspired as well.

First my son and his friends played in a 3 on 3 tournament and requested matching shirts...

We are also in love with the book How to take over teh world... and can I haz teh cheezburger?

How cute are those cats seriously... so teh cheezburger.

FOSEA (friends of South East Alaska) a mission trip I'm taking this summer, inspired these FOSEA Posse guys... to help raise money and get prayer partners.

I have found Craftster.org where have you been my whole life, why am I just finding you now... anyway what an inspirational site... I joined and Alice in Wonderland Swap and here are some of the items I made....sorry some are sideways.

An awesome altered bag...snagged at walmart for super cheap!

The Mad Hatters Hat, with a special surprise inside.

A Cheshire cat necklace...which really is more vibrant but didn't photograph well at all...

My partner said she loves hot pink, so I made up this yummy cake!

And a tiny book of her favorite quotes with a shaker cover!

Two mini scrapbooks, they were kits, but sometimes the lick em and stick em method is very satisfying!

And this isn't done yet, but my first painting....

Wow I'm sure there are more things that I've forgotten and come back tomorrow to meet Blue!

Serendipity's Second project for December was to create a simple thank you card for after Christmas!

My finished card size is 4"x3". I stamped the thank you with Serendipity 559E Horizontal Thank You II. Embossed it with silver embossing powder, and then accented it with a red pen. I then tore a strip off the bottom and inked it in red. The final touch was wrapping a ribbon around the top and tying a bow!

Merry Months

For our challenge this time we each needed to pick a different month stamp to use. I chose February because well it's my birthday month! And I chose red, cream, and black which is one of my favorite color combos!

For a different look I stamped with a glue pad and covered the image in flocking, it gives it such a warm fuzzy feeling!

Supplies:
^Serendipity Stamps February (586F)
^Card base finished size 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"
^Cardstock in black, and cream
^Red and cream patterned paper
^Glue pad
^Red Flocking
^Black pen
^Corner punch
^Red gems
^Black ribbon

Directions:
~Cover card in black cardstock, layer red and cream paper on top. Add ribbon down the middle.
~Stamp image with glue pad, and cover with flocking. Cut out image, use corner punch and mat on black cardstock.
~Adhere to center of card, and add red gems to corners, and add dimension with black pen.
~Tie a bow out of same ribbon and attach below stamped image!

Drusilla turned out to be much easier than Xena... no little bikini to worry about, the only part that was longer was the hair. Since Xena sported the pony tail completely covering her head wasn't necessary, but it was for Dru. And in turn she has this great head of crazy thick hair.

Sorry the pictures are kinda cruddy, but Happy Thanksgiving from our house to yours!

Coasters...
That is the second Serendipity Stamps project for this month!

This may be my first project that looks better in the photo than in real life. I had to get online and look up tutorials and find out what the best coloring choices were and I went with chalks, and I'm not super good with them.

Supplies:
Lemonade Picture Serendipity Stamp (989G)
Tile Coaster
Black Staz On ink
Chalks
Heat Tool
Oven

Directions:
1. Stamp image on tile with Staz on ink. Set with heat tool.
2. color in image with chalks.
3. Set oven to 300 degrees and bake tile for 20 minutes. Allow to cool in the oven.

Now many a website told me that baking the tile would set the ink and chalk permanently, well I can still run my finger over it and come away with color? And other sites said that sealing the tile is a bad idea because it loses it's ability to absorb moisture? Any ideas on that, I'd be happy to hear them!

I'm going to call her Xena.. man do I miss that show (insert Xena war cry here).
This little lady started off just like the ninjas.. body was easy peasy!
Then her little outfit... ughh took forever but she isn't naked. And then hair was super hard, but I concorquered.

Here she is hanging out in the jungle surrounded by scary animals of all sorts, but she remains calm!

And here is my little guy posing with his jungle creation. I think he did a great job!

This time the Serendipity Stamps design team was challenged to make a card that fits into a business envelope, that makes my finished card 4" x 9".

Here is a close up of the sentiment and the coloring on two of the cupcakes. I had a good time with these cupcakes, making them bright and fun, and you know if you eat one it will turn your mouth colors!

Supplies:
Cupcakes Cling Set (1161QCL)
Copic Markers
Black Ink
Yellow glitter glue

Directions:
1. Cut a card base so the finished size is 4" x 9", stamp the sentiment in the upper right corner, and then randomly stamp candles around it.
2. Cut a piece of paper to 9" long and add a wavey top, adhere to bottom of card.
3. Stamp five big cupcakes and color them, and cut them out. Adhere to card along the wavey line.
4. Color in candles and add glitter glue to lines around flames!

So about 6 months or so ago I decided I would learn to crochet... now mind you my grandmother had tried to teach me many years ago, and well I was a miserable failure. But in the day and age of youtube... I have succeded. I made a few blankets, some flowers,and a tiny wee baby hat at prayer shawl group at church.. Then one magical day at Barnes and Nobel I found the book Creepy Cute Crochet, by Christen Haden.... and knew that the little guys in the book would be next.. and since Jim bought me the book, I told him he'd get the first guy, a ninja!

Here he is being very ninja like hiding among my fall pumpkins and gourds.

And here he is blending in with my laptop.... very ninja like, right? I can't get over how stinking cute this guy is.. and that I made it?

And with so many more choices in the book look forward to more super cute amigurumi creatures in the future!

Simple Christmas Cards!

For October's second Serendipity Challenge we are keeping things simple!

I chose stamp from the new Christmas stamps and kept it to three colors. I had the urge to add glitter and had to keep myself in check, simple!

Supplies:
* Tree Flourish Large (1234G)
* Simple Merry Christmas Small (1035D)
* Red card base finished size 4" x 4"
* White Cardstock 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
* Ink Green and Red
* Green Ric Rak

Directions:
~ Stamp the tree towards the top side of the white square in green. Stamp Merry Christmas at the bottom using red.
~ Attach white square to red front. Tie the ric rak around the top of the card, and you are finished!

Elk county and a surprise...

so it seems like every year Jac and I make the trek to Elk County with my parents to see the Elk now they are huge and beautiful animals but I always have an ulterior motive.... BEARS! Yes I think I may have been the last person in Pennsylvania to not see a black bear! This year I finally fixed that with not one, not two, but three bears together!

Here we have the biggest Elk of the trip.... just hanging out by the side of the road eating.. it was also the rut season so we got to hear lots of bugling which is super cool!

So my mother and her cohorts at work have a weird sense of humor. When someone has surgery or some such thing they make a party out of it. In this case someone is having their gallbladder out becuase of stones... so hence the stone theme! My mom asked for a cute pet rock with sticky up hair and a bow! And this is what I came up with. Of course at work today she will certainly pass this cutie off as her own!

Challenge: Create a card based on your other hobby or the hobby of someone else!
Using the sketch below!

So I chose hunting which is very popular in my neck of the woods, especially at this time of year!

Since the finished card is small 4" x 4 1/4" I decided that I would only use a portion of the stamp I chose. I just love how that turned out, gives a whole new look the large stamp it started out as!

Supplies:
Buck stamp (116L) Serendipity Stamps
Card Blank (finished size 4" x 4 1/4")
Patterned Paper
Ribbon
Brown Ink
Sponge

Directions:
*Ink edges of pattered paper, and adhere ribbon around middle.
*Stamp part of buck image on small square and mat with brown cardstock. Lightly ink over the image as well as the edges.
*Adhere image to center of card. Adhere patterned paper to card front!

Sweet and simple on this one, but it still looks finished and polished to me!

Words of Encouragement

Serendipity's second challenge for the month was to use a stamp that offered encouragement! Mary wanted us all to use different stamps, and make sure that the sentiment was the highlight! So with this in mind I decided to keep the card simple so the saying stood out!

And here you have it!

Supplies:

Live Each Season Stamp (1003E)
White Cardstock
Black Cardstock
Black Ink
A range of ink colors from a dark to a light... I used two lighter yellows and two lighter greens and a darker green.
Sponge
Black Pen
Black flower brads
Black velvet trim (mine is doodlebug)

Directions:

* Begin by inking a 4x4 square of white cardstock all over with yellow using a sponge. Then using the darkest green ink the lower left corner. Ink a stripe across the middle with the lightest green. Then using the other yellow and green blend the middle out to the corners. You can also go back and add other colors and keep blending till you are happy with the results.

* Stamp the sentiment in the middle with black. Using your black pen make lines 1/4" in on each side. Where the lines cross add the flower brads.

* Make a card base out of black cardstock a quarter inch bigger than the white square. Adhere your square to the middle and add trim around the edges. I mitered the corners for a finished look.

Fall Fun!

This month my task was to create a card based on the sketch below, using the new Autumn/Fall stamps from Serendipity!

So I took the sketch just like it was and whipped up this card! Isn't the Autumn stamp adorable!

Supplies:
~ Autumn Serendipity Stamp (1223H)
~ Brown ink
~ Fall Patterned Paper
~ Coordinating cardstocks
~ Colored pencils
~ felt leaves
~ velvet or felt ribbon

Directions:
1. Cut patterned paper to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Cut brown strip to 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" and adhere in center of patterned paper. Cut off white cardstock to 3"x 4 1/2", cover with felt leaves and trim of excess leaves, adhere to top center of brown strip.

2. Stamp image in brown, color with colored pencils and cut out! Using pop dots adhere over top of leaves. Add ribbon to edge. Super simple!

But I couldn't be done there not when that adorable spider was still calling out my name! So I created this one as well. Enjoy!

Spooooky....

When Mary emailed us and asked us all for ideas for the new fall line, I jumped right in and suggested a cutesy spider. Now this coming from a girl who is terrified of spiders might be a bit of a surprise, but when you make them super cute, I'm sucked in. So much to my great delight when the new stamps arrived on my doorstep a cutsey spider was included!

I also happened to be shopping at AC Moore on Saturday and came across this small carvable pumpkin, I'd seen big ones before, but never a little one. I just knew that it and the spider stamp went together.

Imagine I had an idea of something a bit spookier but how could this little guy ever be scary? No way! And of course I started out thinking just the spider inside and some ribbon and it spiraled out of control!

The little boo stamp also comes in the set with the spider I used my xacto knife to make thin slits to stick the transparency into. I also stamped the spider on transparency with staz-on, and colored on the back of the image with galaxy markers that don't smear on shiny surfaces.

Plenty of coloring on the pumpkin and added ribbons with cute Halloween buttons finish the look!

Serendipity's second August Challenge has arrived! This month we are highlighting some of the beautiful baby stamps that Serendipity has available!

Isn't that frame adorable... I just love to use them, and love it even better that they are only $3 at Walmart. I could have picked any name, but well I admit that I like seeing my name on things so I went ahead and used it!

Supplies:

* Christening Gown Stamp (627H) From Serendipity Stamps
* 6" x 12" frame
* Coordinating papers
* Coordinating letter stickers or die cuts ( I used Lyrical Letters on the Cricut)
* Brown Ink
* Colored Pencils
* Gamsol and stump for blending
* Paper flowers
* Ribbon

Directions:

* Cut pieces to fit into frame, each frame is a little different so you may need to play with the sizes a bit. Ink edges of all pieces.
* Stamp image in brown ink and color with colored pencils, blending with Gamsol for a smooth look.
* Adhere letters to center square.
* Embellish letters with flowers.
* Adhere bow to outside of frame, and add flowers to it as well!

Seems like lately all I've been doing is making cards or projects but doing very little actual scrapbooking of my photos... so I hit the scrap room with Disney photos in hand.... I love how this page turned out but it makes me a bit sad because it reminds me of all the great topiary pictures on the lost memory card... :(

This layout uses the zipadee line from Close To My Heart! Enjoy! Maybe the faster I get my last Disney pictures scrapped the sooner I can go back?

Serendipity's first challenge this month was to use stamps that showed writing.... not hard since they have a great selection of stamps to choose from in that category... but I fell in love with the Feather Pen (192D), it's so swirly and elegant looking.

And since having a few teacher friends and a few friends who are avid journal writers I thought I'd make up a card that was also a gift.

Here's my card.. it was super simple, would make such great writing prizes or just a gift from the teacher, and would be great in so many color schemes, school colors, holiday colors, or favorite colors.

Supplies:
Feather Pen Serendipity Stamp (192D)
Three coordinating pens
Three colors of cardstock to match pens
Coordinating Ink
White or other coordinating letter stickers

Directions:
* Cut card base to 4"x4" make two mats in coordinating colors.
* Cut a strip of paper to go around pens whatever size you need to hold pens you choose... Glue three colored strips together and score into a box, and adhere to card front.
* Stamp feather pen and cut out. Adhere to top of pen holder.
* Use letter stickers to spell out Write on.

Christmas in July!

Christmas in July! Our challenge for this month was to take a non Christmas image and make into a Christmas card! I had a lot of fun with this one! I took the chipmunk and wiped the part of the stamp with the daffodil clean. Then covered it with a red flower that I thought looked like a poinsettia. Then added white embossing powder around to look like snow!

Supplies:

Chipmunk Cling set (1201QCL)

Merry Christmas Casual Small (668C)

Red, White, and Green Cardstock

Black and Red ink

Green and white pens

Brown shades of Copic markers

Red paper flower

Green jewel

Green Ribbon

Emobssing pen and gun

white embossing powder

Directions:

1. Cut card front from red to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

2. Stamp chipmunk in black, I used a paper towel to wipe off the daffodil the chipmunk was holding. Color with markers. Cut into ciricle.

3. Cut scalloped circle out of green (I used nesties dies) add white dots to all scallops.

4. Using embossing pen add snow to the grass, leaf, and end of chipmunks nose.

5. Add snow to red flower and ahdere to card with green jewel center.

6. Tie ribbon around top of card. Stamp Merry Christmas in Red on small tag and attach under bow.

7. Add doodles to edge of card and tag!

A trip in the way back machine....

For our first July Challenge Mary asked us to pick a stamp from one of her early lines. Once I saw this pile of books I knew that was the one I wanted to use.

This is a big card... 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 since I don't usually make big cards I was surprised at how much I liked it big. Lots of room to play with the big stamps.

Supplies:

Books Stamp set (063QCL)
Brown Cardstock
Yellow/Green pattern paper
Pattern Paper that looks like ledger paper
Brown Ribbon
Brown ink
Bronze Brads
Bronze glitter
Border punch (mine is from Fiskars)

Directions:

* Cut Brown cardstock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
* Cut Pattern Paper 1/2 inch smaller all around
* Border punch bottom of Pattern paper and a strip of brown cardstock, and another strip of pattern paper, adhere to back of big pattern paper.
* Ink edges in brown adhere to cardstock
* Stamp both stamps from set on ledger paper in brown ink.
* Ink edges and middles to give a worn appearance.
* Adhere to front of card with brads.
* Tie ribbon across card add double bow.
* Glitter around pattern paper and in holes of bottom punch.
* Adhere to card front!

This stamp from Serendipity just screams summer to me. I used Copics for coloring for nice vibrancy. And even though it's hard to tell I coated the picture with some liquid glass so it looks like it's made of glass! Enjoy!

Simple is as Simple does...

Junes second challenge involves simple cards, and since they were so simple I made two... each card took me less than five minutes to put together with just things laying on my desk at the time!
My first card uses the small set Martini glass cling set (896MCL). I made a standard A2 sized card 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". Stamped the image on white colored the glass blue and cut it out with Nestabilities and matted on a coordinating card stock. Adhered a half inch strip of patterned paper and stamped It's a Party below that and attached the circle on top of the strip! See Simple.

Card number two was just as easy! I cut the flowered card stock to the A2 size. Ran a yellow ribbon around the middle and inked all the edges in black. Then I stamped The Sweetest Joy is Love (1082D) on light blue and matted it in dark blue and stuck it to the middle of the card! Done and Done!

I couldn't even drive to the store to get a card as quickly and cheaply as I made these two! Don't forget to check out the other great Design Team creations:

As soon as I got this fantastic new train stamp from Mary I knew what I wanted to do with it... as soon as I found the pictures... and I did. Toot toot! A few summers ago we visited the Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg PA! Jac had the best time checking out the trains and riding the rails!

I decided to try that aged look with the stamp again. I think it came out well...I used water color crayons and some sponged ink! Thanks for looking!

With Sympathy

This months Serendipity Stamps Challenge was a sympathy card using the following sketch created by Lynda from the Design Team. I chose to turn the sketch on it's side. And go with mostly subdued colors.

Supplies:

With Sympathy Stamp Serendipity Stamp (783D)
Patterned paper
Two coordinating card stocks one dark, one light
Hemp fibers
Off white pigment ink
White pen
foam mounting squares

Directions:

* Use the dark card stock for your base
* Adhere three strips of patterned paper one to each edge and a larger one in the middle
* Attach hemp to sides of patterned paper
* Cut rectangle from dark cardstock, a second smaller one from the light, and a third smaller from the dark adhere the rectangles together
* Using the pigment ink stamp the with sympathy in the middle of the small square (pigment ink takes a while to dry so be careful not to smudge)
* Using the pen make dots in corner of the large brown rectangle
* Using foam squares adhere the rectangles to the center of the card

The most challenging part of this card was keeping things low key. For a sympathy card I just didn't figure lots of bling and such would be appreciated or necessary!

May's second challenge was to make a notebook of any size, shape, or sort. I choose to start with a small composition book and see where it took me!

I used the Serendipity Stamp Music is What Feelings (1180E). I just love this stamp and how elegant the font is. I used miscellaneous pieces of paper (great way to use up scraps). Inked them all with black ink. Stamped the sentiment on the front in black, and highlighted it with a silver pen. I then twisted a piece of metal into a treble clef and attached it to a piece of ric rac to use as a page maker in the notebook!

The first challenge for Serendipity for May is Masculine cards! So I channeled my dad and thought of all the Serendipity stamps I have which would he like to get on a card? And the winner is....

Buck and Doe (1183L) My dad is a huge deer hunter and this card would certainly make him smile! The sentiment stamp I used is from the Bleeding Heart set (1114QCL)! I stamped the deer on a medium brown with a brown ink , the sentiment on a light brown in a black ink, and made the card from the darkest brown. I matted my deer image in black and then added brown photo corners from my stash and made those pop with some black brads! Then I matted the sentiment and added it to the card! Simple yet masculine!

Book Marked!

For a girl with her nose constantly in a book, the book mark challenge for April was well a challenge for me! I've been thinking about it for several days and finally decided to go a route I don't generally go.... antiqued/aged looking.

So here it is: what do you think?

Maybe not finest work but I'm pretty pleased with the results! The finished book mark is 2 1/2" x 6", and I laminated it so it would be sturdier!

Supplies:

~ Serendipity Stamp set: Ink Splash (320QCL)
~ Light brown card stock
~ Corner rounder
~ Various shades of brown ink
~ Sponges
~ Brown thread
~ Sewing machine
~ Hole punch
~ brown fibers
~ laminating supplies ( I used the Xyron laminating cartridge)

First I cut my card stock to size and rounded the corners. Then using my ink and sponges I aged the book mark. Then using the same shades of brown I added the ink splashes. I stamped two of the brushes from the set with dark brown and cut them out. I zig zag sewed around the edges. I then adhered the brushes to the center punched a hole and laminated it. After that I punched the hole again and added my brown fibers.

Serendipity Mother's Day Cards!

For Serendipity's first April challenge we have a card sketch. We needed to take the following sketch and make a Mother's Day Card with it. I had a wonderful time playing around with my supplies, Serendipity Stamps, and brand new sewing machine!

Here is the card I created from the sketch. I just love purple and green together, and the white accents really make it pop to me!

Mother's Day Card

Supplies:

Mom Large Serendipity Stamp (822D)
Dandelion Puff Small Serendipity Stamp (860E)
Embossing Ink
White Embossing powder
heat tool
Purple white core cardstock
coordinating purple ink
sponge
green cardstock
white cardstock
purple and green sheer ribbon
dot embossing template
sand paper
skittles or dew drops
glue dots
white thread and sewing machine
oval template or die

Directions:

Cut card front from purple cardstock. Embossing dots on cardstock, and sand to bring out the white. Finished card measures 5 1/2” x 7 1/2”. Cut an oval from white cardstock. Stamp the dandelion and mom on the oval with embossing ink, and shake on white embossing powder and heat set. Using sponge, dab purple ink over stamped image to give it a mottled effect. Mat on a green oval and stitch around the edge. Add a green strip to bottom of card and stitch edges. Add two strips vertically and stitch edges of those as well. Cover bottom strip with green ribbon. Tie a bow using purple and green ribbon and attach at the right side of bottom strip. Adhere oval over two side strips. Using glue dots adhere skittles around oval.

Appreciation!

I had a very productive morning! Working on special gifts for teacher appreciation week at our school! Now I know it isn't until May, but I like to be on top of things, and I'll be gone the end of April for my tenth Anniversary trip with my hubby! So I feel the need to finish up now!

I made 60... and of course had to order the stamp special just for these. He's from a Christmas set by Cornish Heritage Farms. The thank you is from Close To My Heart! My favorite part of this whole project was the awesome machine at Staples that cut all the small legal pads in half.... the machine does the whole bunch at once. I think I'm in love! Now only two other smaller projects to finish, and calls for food, and I'll be all done!

My mom was off last week on spring break, and we were very busy. Lots of shopping and things to do. One of my favorite stops was the Ribbon Factory!!! Yes less than an hour away a ribbon factory, could a girl get more lucky! The best part is the five dollar bag... you get a clear bag for 5 bucks and shove it full with as much ribbon as you can get in there. It comes from this big bin of ends as they call it. I just wanted to climb inside and lay down. Here is part of the bin.

And another view of all the ribbon... ahhh. I was lucky this time they are remodeling the front sales room so this box is back in the actual factory! The rows and rows of ribbon are sooo beautiful and I forgot to take a picture of them.

And this beauty was in the box.. have you ever seen a ribbon spool so big... if I could have found a way to get it in a bag for five bucks I'd have brought it home! Just to have it! If anyone wants to go let me know... just come on over and we'll head out!And then I was asked to cut some letters for a bulletin board at church! Well I couldn't leave well enough alone and did up the whole thing. Isn't it pretty? I just love my cricut, things like this wouldn't be possible without him!

Serendipity's Second March challenge was to make a card that could go through the mail! And boy did I have fun with this one. I just love this stamp Floral frame Stamp (695L) I colored it in with water color crayons, and I'm very pleased with the look it gave! I stamped the sentiment Quick Note Vertical (241D) in the middle after cutting out the frame and backing it with another piece of cardstock! Then on the back I used Serendipity's Postcard (330F) stamp.

As Easy as 1, 2, 3 with Serendipities March Challenge

Hello and Welcome to the first Serendipity Challenge for March! 1, 2, 3... That was our challenge this time... One button, two ribbons, three layers. So let's get started:

I used the Serendipity Stamp Button Mushrooms Cling Set (987QCL)! Stamped it on white cardstock and colored it with Copic Markers, I just love the bright tones they give. Then inked the edges of all my layers in black... used pop dots to adhere the mushrooms onto layer two the cute birdy paper from American Crafts Blue Skies line! Layer three is the green cardstock base from the same line. Three layers: Check! Adhere the blue and pink ribbon or what ever you like, I just used scraps from my ribbon drawer. Two Ribbons: Check! I found that huge button in my stash too, and threaded it up with some of the pink ribbon. One Button: Check!

Then I used the sentiment stamp from the set and matted it using the same papers for the inside. How happy are those mushrooms? I just love them!

Well my husband was packing today for a golf trip he's leaving on later this week... while putting on all his club covers he mentioned that he wished he had a cover for his putter. Covers are very important when flying to keep the clubs from clanking together and such.

Here's the putter!! Slazenger very nice! Has a kitty and the colors are orange and blue!

So now I mention that I could simply knit up a little cover for it in a short amount of time. So I head to my crafty closet, and find matching orange yarn Yeah! I get out my Kniffty Knitter and go to town! The results are cute but why settle for good enough when I can do better?So on goes my thinking cap... and a few extra minutes and wala it's not just your average club cover any more it's got personality!

Directions:

Cut Gift bag from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge at 5 3/4" . Decorate bag with pattern paper and ric rac. Stamp image in cocoa ink and color with pencils. Mat on cardstock and attach to bag with pop dots. Mat number 4 sticker and string from hole in bag. Ink edges of several small peieces of tissue paper and arrange in bag!

Serendipity's First February Challenge!

For this months first challenge we were given a sketch! This one to be exact:

Then I took it and flipped it on its side! This game me a better space for me to work with this adorable little skunk! (1203QCL) I stamped and colored him in with copic markers, layered and matted him up with Farm Fresh papers from October Afternoon! I then thought a little bling would really pick it up but didn't have any rhinestones that really matched? Cure color the plain rhinestones with copics to match!

After staring at this card for a couple weeks I finally figured out what was bugging me about it.. I had colored the background peach because I thought the white was too stark, but by mistake I had colored in part of the tail that should have stayed white? What to do what to do? Again copics to the rescue.. I used my colorless blender to push the offending peach ink back through the paper.. now it didn't completely disappear but with lots of work and a little gray for cover, I think the fix looks pretty good! What do you think?

I have a huge stack of love notes from my son Jac! He's always leaving me the cutest little notes. I never know what to with them! So for the month of February I've been participating in Lain Ehmans LOAD Challenge (HER BLOG)! Yesterday someone posted the cutest pocket page for her sons love notes! I decided to lift it right away. So this is my layout for today, as an added bonus I used one the new sets from Serendipty's Spring line! Scent with love? How perfect!

Frosty Findings!

On Monday I went to the school for about an hour and was struck on the way there at how beautiful all the frost was covering everything in sight! So I decided to take a walk when I got home and got these awesome pictures. I didn't find any owl pellets which was my primary goal but there is always next snow for that!

These little puffs of snow sitting on the branches were so pretty!

A bird nest all covered up, no on living here right now!

An interesting little frozen patch of water caught my attention, have lots of pictures of this little spot and all it's interesting bits. Enjoy!

Gingersnap Creations 40: Numbers

I will admit that this was the hardest challenge this month for me, by far! Serendipity doesn't make a ton of number stamps so I knew that I'd have to come up with something more creative! I sat down and my desk and started to play, and it came to me... make a number out of other stamps! Turns out to be my favorite card of the month!

I stamped lots of flowers (from the foursome flowers small cling set 439QCL). I colored them with copic markers added some diamond glaze to the middle and sprinkled glitter on that! My biggest discovery was sweet! I had written the word sweet with white pen on the tag but just wasn't happy with how it looked so I tried coloring it with my Copics and I just love the affect and how it matches perfectly now!

Gingersnap Creations Week 3

Hi All! It's time for another Gingersnap Creations Creation! The challenge this week was to use Metallics.. and I was having so much fun with embossing powder from last week I created this card...The stamp I used here is Palm Tree (004QCL) another one of my favorites.. of course I guess I haven't gotten one yet that I didn't like! I stamped the palm tree in blue on the blue cardstock base then added a layer of clear embossing powder to the whole thing to make it shine. I then cut a strip and began embossing layers of embossing powder on it blue, pink, and purple. Till it was thick and shiney like water. Then I inked my Palm Tree with versamark and stamped it over the top of the blue. Then I covered that with gold embossing powder! Matted it on Metallic purple and added a blue knotted fiber.

Then my kit arrives and I'm lucky enough to get a gator emelishment right in the kit! Perfect! And it feels so good to be scrapping again!

Gingersnap Creations Challenge Two

Hi everyone, Welcome to my second week of creation for Gingersnap Creations Blog! I'm having a great time playing with my supplies and taking on different challenges! This weeks challenge is GC28: Supply Challenge: Embossing powder!

For this card I used Serendipity Stamps Thank you II Horizontal (559E) and Pussy Willow small (855D). I used the light purple cardstock for the whole card. I stamped the pussy willows randomly on the strip with Versa Mark and then embossed them white embossing powder. I then inked over the top of them with a darker purple ink. This gives such a crisp white image. For the thank you, I stamped it and inked the edges in the same darker purple, then covered the whole piece with Versa Mark and clear embossing powder! For this card I was working with some new inking techniques and I was very pleased with the results, unfortunately I didn't photograph it very well and it's a bit washed out! I used two different Serendipity Stamps! Time is What (1167E) the circle stamp and Butterfly from the Butterfly cling set (708QCL)! I stamped the butterfly separate cut it out, folded up the wings, and covered it with diamond glaze, and the final touch was to curl up a piece of black wire for the antennae! Serendipity Stamps December Design Team Challenges!

Time for my December Serendipity Stamps Projects! One Easter project and one Valentines project. We'll start with Valentines day! Isn't this stamp just gorgeous? It's so intricate and stamps so perfectly! Around the edge it says you are Always in my heart (stamp # 419E)! And I had a great time converting a pattern for Christmas ornaments into Valentines day because who says ornaments are only for Christmas? I think I'll be making plenty more of these!

And for my Easter project a shaker card! I stamped the eggs (stamp# 685M) on Shrink plastic, colored them with Copic markers then shrunk them! Added them with some seed beads to the shaker on the front and waa laa a card with movement!

Beautiful Butterflies!

I just picked up these butterfly pictures yesterday! And I happened to have these very lovely butterfly stamps from Serendipity and boy did they go together nicely! I used a sketch from November Becky Higgins! I made the background paper myself and I don't know if you can tell but the stamped butterflies look like they are flying! Shaped Cards
Here is the card I made for this months Serendipity Challenge: Shaped Cards!
I just love this stamp set, I've always wanted a goat, and I think this is as close as I'm going to get! The supplies I used are listed below! I think the one thing that made this card extra special was adding the raffia to look like real hay sticking out of his mouth!

Supplies:
Goat Cling Set Serendipity Stamps (1152QCL)
Green Cardstock ( I used garden green Close To My Heart)
White Cardstock
Green Ink ( I used garden green CTMH)
Brown ink (I used Chocolate CTMH)
Small hole punch or thumb tack
Raffia

Directions:
1. Cut a card base from the green to 6 1/2” x 4 1/4” and fold in half.
2. Cut a piece of white cardstock to 1 1/4” x 3” stamp the What was I thinking sentiment on this piece in green ink. Ink around the edges and lightly across the front with brown ink.
3. Stamp goat on white cardstock with brown ink, trim around the image.
4. Attach goat to back of sentiment towards the right side. Center the whole thing on the cardbase. Trim around the goats head with about a 1/4” border. Do not trim the sentiment to the left or your card will not stay together.
5. Using small hole punch or thumb tack make holes on each side of goats mouth where you can see the straw hanging out of his mouth on the stamp. Make sure to only punch through the top layer of the card. Place a small amount of adhesive on the inside between the holes, and thread the raffia through so the ends stick out the front. Trim ends to your liking.

I've been stamping again! This deer card is one I made for my Dear Ole Dad's birthday! I think he'll be very happy with the big buck on it!

Isn't this little kitty just the cutest! Someone will be meowy happy to get him for Easter!

I love bling, but not so much after making this card...I stuck each and every one of those little rhinestones by hand! uggh! Pretty but a ton of work!

And this one is my favorite of all four! I am so in love with this little Serendipity Ducky! On this card I stamped and colored the image... then stamped it again and colored the flower! I cut it apart and put it on with foam tape in different levels! It really makes the flower pop!

How about Valentines and Easter?

Here are a few cards I made up with Serendipity Stamps for Mary to send as demos! I'm not sure about the card above.. it came out a little dark for Easter, but I'm still fan of the color combo.. guess Halloween colors don't translate to Easter!

Isn't this just the cutest stamp? I love it! What says I love you like cooking for the one you love?

And last but certainly not least.. my favorite of the three.. this little ducky is sooo adorable! I colored him with my copics.. and I just love the depth they give to the flower.

Happy Halloween

Just wanted to share with you all the little project I whipped up today, and a happy accident! I was playing with chalk to make this cool background it's been so long since I'd played with it, and it was lots of fun and gave me the spooky background I was looking for.

Then when I was stamping the small black bats onto the background they happened to be part of a larger stamp with more bats and swirlys... the serendipity happened! Where the stamp wasn't inked it pulled up the chalk and make a light impression, beautiful and just that little something extra the card needed. Enjoy!

This is my front yard this morning! I went to bed last night hoping and hoping that it wouldn't come true! Now i've got to make sure Jac's Halloween costume will fit over his winter coat!

October's Serendipity Stamp Challenge!

This month's challenge was to create a gift or ornament! I chose a set of star stamps only to find out an even cooler thing about them, they fit perfectly with McGill's Super Giant Star Punch! I can just picture a Christmas tree covered with these!

Supplies:

*Stars stamp set Serendipity Stamps (452QCL)

*McGill Super Giant Star Punch (also available at Serendipity)

*Navy Blue Cardstock

*Versa Mark Ink

*Silver embossing powder

*Embossing heat tool

*Heavy duty adhesive

*Silver wire

*Silver earring stems (a thick wire with a flat almost pin head bottom)

*Silver toned beads

*Silver ribbon

*Wire pliers and cutters

Directions:

Stamp 7 stars on the blue cardstock with the versamark ink. Cover with embossing powder and emboss with heat tool.
Punch out stars with punch (designed to match) and fold each star in half. Coat backs with adhesive.
Put stars together by securing each half to another star and then putting the open ends together.
Thread several beads onto earring stem, and then put the end of the stem up through the stars middle. Use the pliers to make a loop at the top of the star.
Cut a length of wire to use as a hanger and attach it to the loop at the top of the star.
Cut a length of ribbon and use it to tie a bow at the top of the star where the wire attaches to the loop.

It would be easy to use more or fewer stars to change up the look, not to mention the endless possibilities with other colors of paper, embossing powders, and beads! If you create on of these little darlings I'd love to see it, post a link here and one lucky person will win a prize from me!

It's almost time...

It's almost time for Serendipity Stamps October Design Team Challenge! We are to make at least two projects a month, and for October we had two choices, my first choice is a gift item. I made bookmarks for the Chime group I'm in at my church. I just love those ladies and thought they'd like a little something to keep their pages marked.

I just love my glitter pen, it gives so many projects just that little something extra! Sparkle! I used Serendipity Stamps Steeple Set. I just love how the words look stamped over top of the snow covered church.

There was frost...

I woke up this morning to frost on my windows! Yuck! That makes me realize that winter is sooo close! One happy thing about that is this card I recently created! I used this beautiful tree stamp from Serendipity Stamps. I stamped it with my glue pad on mulberry paper and covered it with silver glitter! It's just so sparkly and beautiful! I love it!

The secret to a nicely matching window... temporally adhere your patterned paper to your card blank and cut your window through both at the same time, this assures that when you put your paper between for the window that they will match up in the end!

Can you believe it?

Can you believe it.. yesterday was three months till Christmas... so in the spirit of that... here is a card I made using a Serendipity Stamps snowflake! It seemed like such a simple stamp but a little glitter and it went to a whole new level. I stamped the stamp with my glue pad around the card base. You then heat the card some so the glue gets tacking and sprinkle on the glitter. It's so shiney it's amazing! Then added a little ribbon and wala card in no time that still looks like it took forever!
